VIETNAM AVIATION SECURITY REVERSE TRADE MISSION
Vietnam is the world’s fifth fastest-growing aviation market, with passenger and cargo traffic projected to grow by approximately 8% annually through 2030.
In January 2024, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) hosted a high-level delegation of 15 Vietnamese aviation security officials and airport representatives to
- advance Vietnam’s goals of improving aviation safety and security standards as the country expands its aviation infrastructure to meet expected long-term air traffic demand increases;
- advance U.S. Government (USG) engagement with Vietnamese aviation stakeholders; and
- help U.S. firms showcase their aviation security equipment and solutions.
Topics covered included aviation safety and security, airport checkpoint design, passenger/cargo security screening, customs, and airport management and operations. The delegation included senior leadership from Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport (MOT), Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), and the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC).
Ms. Gloria Reyes, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Representative, Bangkok, Thailand, and Ms. Anh Nguyen, U.S. Commercial Specialist, U.S. Embassy, Vietnam, joined the delegates to facilitate discussions, answer delegate questions, and provide support throughout the Reverse Trade Mission (RTM).
