BUSINESS BRIEFING: Advanced Technologies for Methane Abatement Reverse Trade Mission
Senior energy sector decision-makers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Thailand seek to connect with U.S.-based companies, manufacturers and solution providers to procure advanced methane abatement and flare mitigation technologies and discuss best practices in methane abatement.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will host a Business Briefing on July 24, 2024 in Houston, Texas. Participants will be able to meet delegates one-on-one, share overviews of their solutions, and gain insight into near-term commercial opportunities to support methane abatement projects in the Indo-Pacific region.
There is global consensus that reducing methane gas emissions is the fastest way to slow the pace of global warming. Indonesia, Malaysia, and Pakistan are among those that joined the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) and its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for COP26. Participating GMP countries agree to take voluntary actions to contribute to a collective effort to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030. While Thailand did not join the GMP at COP26, nor did its NDC make any specific references to methane, its National Petroleum Exploration and Production company pledged to implement several GHG emission mitigation projects.
This delegation comprises high-level decision-makers from these countries who are interested in procuring advanced U.S. technologies, services and best practices to advance their methane abatement action plans. Particular interests include methane leak detection and repair, fugitive emission measurement and tracking and abatement.
