H.E. Minister El Molla's Keynote Address on Current Oil/Gas Opportunities in Egypt

H.E. Minister Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, Arab Republic of Egypt

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, the Bilateral Chamber hosted its 2nd Annual Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum Briefing, featuring a keynote address by His Excellency Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources.

With a portfolio that includes an extensive career with Chevron Corporation and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, His Excellency the Minister provided a candid outlook on the Egyptian petroleum market, including updates on the future of Egypt’s energy resources, infrastructure and projects, along with the various opportunities available for U.S. investors.


H.E. Minister El MollaFrom January 1987 until 2010, Minister El Molla joined the International company, Chevron, where he took over several responsibilities at Engineering & Operations, and Planning & Sales until becoming Sales Director and Board Member in 1998, then Managing Director for Marking in 2008.

In 2010, Minister El Molla moved to South Africa, at the Chevron Africa & Middle East headquarters, where he became the Regional Director for Central and South Africa, until the end of 2010.

 

In January 2011, Minister El Molla joined the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) as the Vice Chief Executive of EGPC for Foreign Trade.

From August 2011 until February 2012, Minister El Molla took over the position of the Vice Chief Executive of EGPC for Internal Trade, in addition to serving as a Deputy for Foreign Trade.

From March 2012 to August 2013, Minister El Molla took over the post of the Vice Chief Executive of EGPC for Operations in addition to his work as Deputy for Foreign Trade.

From August 2013 to September 2015, Minister El Molla was assigned as the Head of the EGPC and was later sworn in as the Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources on September 19th, 2015.

Minister El Molla received his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University, and is married with a son and two daughters.
