Center For Arabic Language and Culture

The Bilateral US-Arab Chamber is proud to announce that Aida Araissi is the newest member of the Board of Trustees for the Chicago-based non-profit Center for Arabic Language and Culture (CALC). “I am honored to join this elite group of educational professionals and am firmly committed to the belief that through the work of organizations like CALC, steady progress is being made toward our objective of increasing mutual respect and understanding between the U.S. and Arab World.”

Officially launched in Chicagoland in August 2013, CALC has already garnered a good deal of success and public support. In addition to recently being featured on the front-page of the Chicago Tribune, the organization was highlighted on the local ABC news affiliate on the same evening as their Chicago Tribune debut.

Moreover, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is quickly becoming an advocate and champion of the Center’s work within the Chicago Public Schools system and wrote a glowing Letter of Support for the Center, noting that, “In only eight short months, the Center has proven itself to be committed to enhancing the teaching of Arabic language and culture in K-12 schools by providing curriculum resources, offering professional teacher development, and serving as a clearinghouse for cultural activities. Through unique partnerships with the Chicago Public Schools, the University of Chicago, DePaul University, and other organizations throughout the city, the Center is spearheading exciting projects across Chicago that will enable our students, teachers, and members of the community to become truly global citizens.”
